When you start your Network Marketing career, you are told to find your "WHY", what you "want, don't want, or need." Financial Freedom, Time Freedom, Help Others, Residual Income," there are so many reasons why we do this business. Zig Ziglar, one of the most influential motivational speakers in the world says this, "If you help enough people get what they want in life, you will get what you want in life."
With so much time spent on our personal goals, personal development, personal achievements, personal this, personal that, we lose sight of what is most important in our industry... the responsibility to touch as many lives as we can. I am partnered with a Network Marketing company that promotes Nutritional Products. Through the efforts of my team, I have seen people losing 20+ pounds, Blood Pressures returning to normal, Diabetes finally getting under control, so many incredible stories.
Today I was at a retail store with one of my team members. We met a lady who was purchasing a little staircase so that her small dog could get onto a bed easier. We struck up a conversation about her dog. She was so proud she even showed me pictures of her "baby." Now let me make my intentions clear. My intent was NOT to create a prospect, but to genuinely speak to her about her dog. Through the 15 minute conversation we had, she felt comfortable enough to share her life story with me. She had raised 4 children and had no legally adopted her 13 year old grand-daughter. Her husband had passed away but she still feels such a strong connection that she talks to him every night. She suffers from MS, Diabetes, Asthma, and many more aliments. It was at this time that I told her that I might be able to help her.
I got her phone number and gave her a 1 week supply of products. The sample, plus some of the informational guides I gave to her probably cost me $40. Now I have two ways of thinking...
- This is a $40 lead. I need to follow up with her as much as possible to get her to become a customer and possibly a distributor.
- This was a very nice lady I ran into at a local store. She shared her life with me for about 15 minutes and told me about her ailments that she suffers from. I hope she becomes a products and feels the positive impact of the products.
